Welcome to Conway-Heaton Ford, Kentucky's oldest Ford dealership, proudly serving Bardstown and the surrounding communities since 1919. Located in Historic Bardstown at 810 North 3rd Street-just 35 miles south of Louisville-our dealership has been family-owned and operated for over a century. Today, the fourth generation of the Conway and Heaton families continues the same mission that began more than 100 years ago: providing great Ford vehicles and exceptional service, long after the sale.

A Legacy That Began in 1919

Our story started when James F. "Jim" Conway, a young entrepreneur from Richmond, Kentucky, moved to Bardstown with a dream and a $2,000 loan from his aunt. In November 1919, he opened a small Ford storefront at 213 North Third Street-just a block from the courthouse. Back then, cars arrived by train and were assembled right here in Bardstown.

Jim's business quickly became a cornerstone of the community, growing through hard work, trust, and his commitment to every customer who walked through the door. His dedication caught the attention of local leaders, and in 1922, the dealership moved into a larger location built by Bardstown businessman Con Moore. By 1928, Conway Motor Company had expanded again, just off Courthouse Square, continuing to serve farmers, families, and travelers with Ford cars, trucks, and tractors.

Through the Generations

When World War II paused new car production, Jim's son Pike Conway and son-in-law Bob Heaton both served their country. After the war, they returned home and partnered to carry on the business, officially renaming it Conway-Heaton in 1977 to reflect the family partnership.

In 1968, the dealership moved to its current home on North Third Street, where it continues to thrive. Over the years, new generations-Dick Heaton, Bill Conway, Michael Conway, and Nicholas Heaton-have all joined the business, maintaining the family legacy and deep community roots.
